Court case in Ecuador: How a Humboldtian helped the Indigenous Siekopái people to justice
In 1985, the ethnologist and anthropologist, Maria Susana Cipolletti, had a Humboldt Fellowship in what was then the Seminar for Ethnology at the University of Bonn. At the time, it was headed by the leading German ethnologist specialising in the countries of the Andes, Udo Oberem. Cipolletti would never have dreamt back then that her research would one day help the Siekopái people of Ecuador to repossess their ancestral lands.
