Harald Clahsen ist einer der international angesehensten deutschen Linguisten. Er zählt zu den führenden Forschern auf den Gebieten Spracherwerb, Sprachverarbeitung sowie Sprachstörungen und verbindet bei seiner Arbeit theoretische Linguistik mit experimenteller Psycholinguistik und neurowissenschaftlichen Techniken. An der Universität Potsdam soll Clahsen Professor für "Psycholinguistics of Multilingualism" und Gründungsdirektor des neuen "Potsdam Research Institute of Multilingualism (PRIM)" werden und damit den "Exzellenzbereich Kognitionswissenschaften" der Humanwissenschaftlichen Fakultät verstärken.
