Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden

Professor Rolf-Peter Kudritzki is one of the world's leading theorist in stellar model atmospheres and radiative transfer and, in addition, he is also widely acknowledged for his outstanding work as an observational spectroscopist. He has always combined first rate theoretical work with observations using the most powerful telescopes on the ground and in space and has established the new science field of extragalactic stellar astronomy. During his stay in Germany he will continue his work on stellar spectroscopy and on establishing bright stars as precise cosmic distance indicators.
