Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden
| Professor Hubert Schwabl is internationally recognized for his pioneering research on hormone-mediated maternal effects in birds. His seminal work suggests that, in contrast to historical views, maternal effects are evolutionary adaptions that program progeny phenotype to enhance fitness. This hypothesis prompted numerous studies by evolutionary ecologists around the globe. Hubert Schwabl's team continues to be at the forefront of this active field of contemporary biology by exploring both the molecular mechanisms and the evolutionary underpinnings and implications of adaptive maternal effects. |
