| During the last 6 years, Dr. Oliver Eickelberg has successfully entered the field of basic research of lung diseases. He has managed to stay at the cutting edge of the international research community, and he has greatly been able to pursue research efforts that impact on the basic sciences, but also on translational clinical medicine. His research efforts at the Yale University School of Medicine have established him as an internationally recognized expert in the field of pulmonary fibrosis, especially with regards to TGF-beta, an important molecular mediator of this disease. Dr. Eickelberg will now further his research of the pathogenesis and future therapies of pulmonary fibrosis at the University of Giessen, where he will establish a laboratory focused on the basic research of pulmonary diseases, including pulmonary fibrosis and hypertension. |
