Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden
| In the year 1838 J. Scott Russell observed in a canal in Scotland a curious effect: a certain type of water wave propagated without significantly changing its shape. This phenomenon of a soliton is not restricted to water waves but also appears for light waves. Here it enjoys a variety of important applications. Dr. Viktor Kozlov has made seminal contributions to the quantum theory of solitons, and their use in classical as well as in quantum communication. |
