Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden

Professor Groos is one of the rare scholars who combine meticulous knowledge with theory and relentless attention to the details of medieval literature. Especially his work on the German Grail romance is recognized as one of the major contributions to research on medieval German literature in the last ten years. Furthermore, he is one of the foremost Puccini scholars. This unusual combination is fruitful for both of his fields and enables him to gain new insights, giving a strong argument for interdisciplinary studies. He is going to work together with Professor Mertens on medieval German love lyrics, further developing the approach of regarding the actual performance as a centre of understanding the texts. This research will benefit greatly from Professor Groos¿s musicological competence and yield new theoretical results as well as a new understanding of certain important texts.
