Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden
| Professor Ivanov is one of the leading scientists in the field of impact crater research and planetology. His fundamental contributions to impact cratering mechanics, the collision history of terrestrial planets and its role for the geological/biological evolution of the Earth received wide recognition in the science community and lead to the "Barringer Medal Award" of the international Meteoritical Society in 1998. He will cooperate with the host institute, Museum of Natural History, Humboldt University Berlin, in the numerical modelling of the formation of terrestrial impact creaters synthesizing theoretical, laboratory and field observations. |
