Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden

Professor Sutanu Sarkar has done pioneering work in the field of turbulence. His theoretical and numerical analyses of noise generation by turbulence, of turbulent scalar transport, turbulent combustion, of effects of density stratification and compressibility on the structure of turbulent flows have not only impruved our physical understanding, but have also contributed to better prediction methods. His research project with Professor Rainer Friedrich at TU Munich, aims at developing a unified picture of compressibility effects in free and wall-bounded turbulence.
