Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden

The Humboldt Research Award is conveyed to Professor Kravtsov for his fundamental contributions to the theory of wave phenomena in inhomogeneous and random structures as well as for his seminal research in the field of statistical radiophysics and acoustics. His theoretical methods of wavefields analysis in statistically heterogeneous media as well as his development of geometrical optics will be applied in the field of earthquake seismology and seismic exploration of oil and gas during his cooperation with the Geophysical Section of the Freie Universität Berlin.
