Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden

Professor Andrew Webb, University of Illinois, Urbana receives this Award for his development of micro-detectors for nuclear magnetic rresonance imaging (MRI) ans spectroscopy. Using such detectors, sample volumes of a few nanoliters have been measured. Teh intergration of these detectors in the next generation of magnetic resonance spectrometers will dramatically increase the application of MR in all fields of natural sciences and medicine. Dr. Webb is also involved in the construction of the world's highest field magnetic resonance spectrometer. In addition he designs the first multi-channel near-infrared imgaging system combined with MRI for functional brain studies.
