Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden

Nanocrystalline materials have received in recent years world-wide attention due to their novel atomic structure as well as due to their attractive properties which may open the way to new and promising technological applications. Professor Valiev has pioneered one method for producing nanocrystalline materials: The production by servere plastic deformation (SPD). The studies performed during his stay in Germany will focus on improving our understanding of the relationship between the properties of nanocrystalline materials produced by SPD and their atomic structure.
