Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden
| Professor Rosenau, a mathematician, born in Swiebodzice, Poland, spent most of his scientifc life in the United States of America and Israel. His special scientifc interests are concentrated around nonlinear science, with many applications in plasma physcis, astrophysics, and nonlinear wave phenomena. His contributions to plasma stability problems as well as some exact solutions to old problems of applied mathematics received worldwide recognition. Professor Rosenau is the inventor of the "compacton", a stable localized wave with compact support which promises a huge potential in future nonlinear wave applications. The next step, "a search for classes of universality in strongly nonlinear phenomena" is intended for the collaboration during his stay in Germany. |
