Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden

Professor Soudi is internationally known for his contributions in the research fields of applied and theoretical linguistics on language technology, computational linguistics, machine translation, computer-assisted language learning and question-answering. He works on developing assistive technologies to empower and help with the integration of deaf and hard of hearing persons. His contributions on Arabic computational morphology led to new directions in the processing of Arabic Morphology from the classical root-and-pattern approach to the lexeme/stem based approach. In Siegen, Professor Soudi will focus on creating technologies for improving communication between Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deaf-Blind people, who rely on sign language and/or Braille and non-sign language.
