Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden
| Professor Lauritzen's work was critical in unraveling the basic mechanisms underlying migrainous aura, and thus in the development of novel, effective treatment strategies against this common form of headache. He has also pioneered our understanding of the coupling between neuronal activity in the brain and the vasculature, knowledge which helped to understand the signals obtained in modern imaging techniques of the brain, such as functional magnetic resonance imaging. It is expected that his collaborative work at the Charite labs of Professor Dirnagl will provide further insights into the nature of the signals that are used to non-invasively observe the human brain at work. |
