Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden

Prof. Navin Khaneja has performed ground-breaking work in the field of quantum control with applications in coherent spectroscopy and quantum information processing. Most notably, he has established physical limits on the sensitivity of key experimental building blocks in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. His results are of fundamental importance for the optimal control of quantum phenomena in general and motivate the study of new problems and techniques in the area of mathematical control theory. The central goal of the planned project is to extend these methods to networks of coupled spins as arising in NMR spectroscopy of large biomolecules.
