Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden
| Professor Leeb is an internationally well-recognized outstanding expert in the field of veterinary genetics. His achievements include numerous key discoveries in the field of molecular genetics, especially the elucidation of the molecular pathogenesis of inherited diseases in domestic animals. His innovative approach to combine the newest technologies such as genome-wide associated studies and next generation deep sequencing to answer emerging questions in his field allowed him to recognize various new inherited diseases in dogs, cats, cattle and horses. In Germany he is going to continue his research with a special emphasis on neurogenetic disorders in dogs and other domestic animals. His investigations will also foster translational aspects and address the question whether hereditary diseases in domestic animals might represent suitable animal models for human entities as another main topic of his collaborative research activity in Germany. Prof. Dr. Tosso Leeb is hosted by Prof. Dr. W. Baumgärtner/PhD Ohio State University, at the Department of Pathology and the Center of Systems Neuroscience at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover, Germany. |
