Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden
| Prof. Herbert Neuberger is one of the leading experts on quantum field theory. This is the theoretical framework of today's theories of the microscopic structure of matter with its constituents like electrons, quarks, neutrinos, photons etc. that are confronted with experimental reality at the large accelerators like CERN and DESY. Before knowledge can progress in this traditional way, precise predictions have to be extracted from the theory and this is more and more often done via large computer simulations. Both Professor Neuberger's specialty and a significant part of the research at Humboldt University lie in the design and sophistication of theoretical tools required for these computations - an excellent prerequisite for joint progress. |
