Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden

Professor Prasad has made fundamental contributions to diverse areas of mathematics including the arithmetic theory of semi-simple groups, Lie groups, representation theory, Bruhat-Tits theory, algebraic geometry, and differential geometry. Characterized by technical virtuosity and elegance, his work has produced deep and general results on important problems, such as classification of semi-simple groups over number fields, determination of volumes of fundamental domains, proof of the strong approximation principle, and determination of the metaplectic kernel. In addition, he has pioneered unexpected approaches, producing several novel techniques that are versatile and widely used. While in Germany, Professor Prasad plans to work on the arithmetic and geometry of reductive groups.
