Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden
| Professor Anatole Vershik from the Mathematical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences is a worldwide leading mathematician working in many areas including representation theory, topology, ergodic theory, probability theory, and mathematical physics. He has made important contributions to all of these areas, in particular concerning representation theory of infinite-dimensional groups, with applications in combinatorics and mathematical physics. During his stay in Germany he will collaborate with mathematicians in Bonn, both at the University and the Max-Planck Institute, as well as in Berlin. He plans to work on representations of loop groups with applications to mathematical physics, as well as on universality and randomness in model theory. Another circle of problems he intends to study concerns asymptotic combinatorics and ergodic theory in connection with polymer physics. |
