Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden

Professor Kevrekidis is an internationally leading expert in the field of nonlinear excitations as applied to nonlinear optics, mean-field theory of quantum gases and granular materials. He has pioneered the understanding of solitons and vortices including their existence, stability and dynamics. During his stay in Germany he will focus on the nonlinear excitations of Bose-Einstein condensates and the control of matter waves with a particular emphasis on so-called symbiotic excitations of mixtures of ultracold quantum gases.
