Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden

Professor Young is an internationally leading expert in the field of statistical physics of disordered systems, in particular with respect to numerical approaches. His work has contributed seminal results for establishing equilibration criteria for Markov-chain simulation, in particular for random systems, for the understanding of high-temperature superconductivity and for the analysis of spin glasses, the most frequently studied model for disordered magnets. During his visit to Germany, he plans to work on the dynamics of random-field systems and on using continuous-degree spin systems to better solve discrete-degree optimization problems.
