Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden
| Professor Ben Feringa is best known for his work on nanotechnology, most notably for the construction of light-driven molecular motors. Motors of this type have been shown to work on a nanometer scale and have recently been used to move a "nano car" on a solid surface. His further research interests in transition metal and DNA-based catalysis have been equally successful and have made him a leading figure in organic chemistry worldwide. In Germany he will dedicate his research efforts to devise new photochemical switches and to employ them in catalysis and nanotechnology. |
