Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden
| Professor Weiss is a world-leading expert in the field of single-molecule fluorescence spectroscopy and microscopy. His lab was the first to develop and introduce single-molecule Förster Resonance Energy Transfer, which has revolutionized the field of single-molecule spectroscopy. Among further achievements, he was a pioneer in introducing fluorescent semiconductor nano-crystals into the field of bioimaging, and he developed important methods of making these crystals bio-compatible and bio-conjugatable for live cell imaging. In Germany, he will continue his research on super-resolution bioimaging with fluorescence quantum dots. |
