Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden
Professor Cooper is an internationally renowned theoretical physicist. He has made important contributions both in condensed matter and ultrocold atom physics, in particular on the quantum Hall effect and related phenomena which appear in ultracold gases in fast rotation. During his stay in Germany, he intends to
work together with theoretical and experimental groups in the area of artificial gauge fields and topological phases.
Professor Cooper is hosted by Professor Bloch at the Max Planck Institute for Quantum Optics and LMU Munich and by Professor Zwerger at the Technical University in Munich.
