Professor Baumgartner is a world-leading chemist and expert in the field of conjugated organophosphorus compounds. He has made notable and pioneering contributions to the construction and use of conjugated organophosphorus molecules and materials. His research unites organic, inorganic, physical, as well as polymeric objectives toward developing alternative energy applications and organic electronics. While in Germany, he plans to investigate the integration of organophosphorus components in materials based on synthetic carbon allotropes and to solidify the utility of these advanced functional materials toward practical applications.
