Prof. McMahon is a renowned world leader in the field of high pressure crystallography. He discovered the surprising emergence of pressure-induced complex structures in seemingly simple metallic compounds. In Germany, he'll continue to develop new approaches to experimentally study structure-property relations at high pressure/high temperatures, using the facilities in Frankfurt and at DESY (Hamburg).
