Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden

Prof Shimizu is well known internationally for her work on Navier-Stokes problems, in particular on the free boundary problems in the one-phase as well as in the two-phase case. She has made important contributions to this theory, introducing the methods of R-boundedness, operator-valued Fourier multipliers and maximal regularity. This work paved the way for the study of more complex problems like incompressible two-phase flows with phase transitions. During her stay in Germany she wants to continue her research on this topic and explore the extension of the approach to the compressible case.
