Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden
| Professor Pumir is an internationally recognized leader in the field of nonlinear physics. He has recently developed novel ways to study fluid turbulence. His approach, based on the study of particles carried by the flow, has led to much needed new fundamental insights and progress. In biophysics, he has proposed a novel way to control electrical turbulence in the heart. This method, now known as "LEAP", promises to significantly improve the current defibrillating technology and thereby saving many lives that otherwise would be lost to sudden cardiac death. In Germany, he will advance his theoretical investigations in these domains in close collaboration with the experimental groups in Göttingen. |
