Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden

Dr. German is a world leader in studying how fluids emanating from the seafloor influence both ocean chemistry and life in the oceans. He is also a pioneer in using studies of life in extreme earth environments (high pressures, high temperatures) to guide the search for life in other parts of the solar system. For these studies he uses state-of-the-art deep submergence robots and occupied submersibles to make in situ observation and take samples. In Germany, Dr. German will be working on new projects to extend our exploration of the deep sea to remote and previously unsampled areas and on studies of deep sea vents under the Arctic ice.
