Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden

Professor Loss his well known internationally for his research on the calculus of variations and has made important contributions to various areas in mathematical physics and analysis. His influential mathematical work on the structure of matter and the kinetic theory of gases has led to new discoveries in mathematical analysis. During his stay in Germany, he will study recently discovered connections between a class of evolution equations and functional inequalities in their sharp form.
