Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden
| Professor Faccenna is one of the internationally leading scientists in the field of geodynamics with an emphasis on active tectonics. His theme is the link between observing and quantifying deformation of the Earth's lithosphere with the modelling of these processes employing numerical and experimental techniques in the laboratory. He has particularly gained an internationally leading position in the understanding of the dynamics of the Earth's surface as driven by processes within the Earth's interior. During his stay in Germany, Claudio Faccenna intends to expand his most recent field of research, the deformation processes and mechanical aspects related to subduction and the corresponding topography evolution at the Earth's plate boundaries. |
