Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden

Professor Smalyukh is a highly respected soft condensed math physicist and internationally known for his discoveries and his insights concerning the understanding of organizing principles responsible for mesoscale self-assembly phenomena. The common theme, which unites the bulk of his research efforts, is the emergence of various degrees of liquid crystalline order as a result of self-assembly. During his stay in Germany, Professor Smalyukh intends to combine topology and active matter paradigms in an effort to achieve topology-dictated non-equilibrium self-assembly of topologically distinct active particles.
