Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden
| Professor Beloborodov is a leading figure in the study of magnetars, very highly magnetized and rapidly spinning neutron stars which are the most powerful known magnets in the Universe. He has also provided new insights into the mechanism which produces gamma-ray bursts, short explosions which temporarily outshine all the stars of the galaxies in which they are embedded. During his stay in Germany, Professor Beloborodov will focus on the physical mechanisms which give rise to the observed high-energy radiation in gamma-ray bursts, merging neutron stars and other energetic astrophysical phenomena. |
