| Professor Fusco is internationally well known for his outstanding research in the Calculus of Variations and Geometric Measure Theory. He has made remarkable contributions to the theory of regularity of minimizers of both quasi-convex and free discontinuity functionals. His results on the stability of geometric and functional inequalities have led to the development of an entirely new field of research. During his stay in Germany, he intends to study a class of variational problems that arises in the study of material defects in solids |
