Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden
| Professor Malka is one of the world leading experts for laser plasma particle accelerators, which is a very promising approach to miniaturize present day huge accelerators used in areas ranging from elementary particle physics to cancer therapy. He has made very important contributions to the physics of plasmas in general.
In Germany, he intends to combine his experimental work at the Weizmann-Institute in Israel with methods that are being developed in the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf. For this purpose the two institutions have recently formed a joint research Institute called Whelmi, with Professor Malka as one of its directors. |
