| Professor Willis has single-handedly revolutionized the subject of totally disconnected locally compact groups. These so-called t.d.l.c. groups appear in particular as algebraic groups over local fields and in functional and harmonic analysis. Professor Willis was instrumental in developing the structure theory for these groups. During his research stay in Germany, different aspects of the theory will be investigated. |
