The Sino-German Frontiers of Science (SINOGFOS) Symposia are a series of interdisciplinary conferences co-organized by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation since 2008.

The Sino-German Frontiers of Science Symposium 2025 covers the following cutting-edge research topics:

•    Engineering Life
•    Footprint of AI: Models and Concepts for Ecological and Sustainable AI
•    Geoengineering and Climate Modelling
•    High-throughput Biotechnologies
•    Neuroscience and Complex Systems in Brain-wide Dynamics Analysis
•    The Quest for Dark Matter

An organizing committee comprised of six Chinese and six German researchers has developed the program for this event. The Conference Chairs of the symposium are Jiao Li, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences Beijing, and Frank Schulz, Ruhr University Bochum.

The symposium brings together 60 outstanding early-career Chinese and German researchers from various universities and research institutions to introduce their areas of research and technical work, thus enabling an interdisciplinary transfer of knowledge and methods. Researchers working in different fields of (applied) natural sciences build cross-disciplinary networks and take the opportunity to work on future international collaborations.

More information is available at the Sino-German Frontiers of Science Symposium website.

This symposium is part of the Frontiers of Research Programme of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. The Foundation regularly convenes bi- and tri-national Frontiers of Research Symposia in cooperation with its partner organisations in Brazil, China, Japan, India, Israel, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
