Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden

The award is made in recognition of pioneering contributions to the analysis of regulatory conformational changes in macromolecular assemblies. These studies have featured creative innovations in the use of electron microscopy and image processing, combined with other biochemical, biophysical and genetic approaches. They have yielded fundamental new insights into the processes of virus assembly and maturation, amyloid filament formation by prions, structure-function relationships of intermediate filaments and energy-dependent proteases. Joint Project: Structural analysis of viruses, in particular Herpes simplex virus, by cryoelectron tomography.
